A Therapy Dog Is A Breakthrough Method To Help A Boy With A Brain Injury Wake Up

 A breakthrough therapeutic proposal ❤️

Caleb was driving with his mother and siblings when a distracted driver veered into the next lane and crashed into their car, inadvertently taking the lives of Caleb’s mother and both. siblings, but six-year-old Caleb miraculously survived. However, his injuries are life-threatening.

As the sole survivor, Caleb was still badly wounded. While broken bones will heal, traumatic brain injury can lead to ‘de.ath’, paralysis, brain damage… the list goes on. Caleb’s father and grandmother do not stop helping him every day.

Between experimental treatments and ongoing trials, no one is sure what the outcome will be. Doctors recommend a non-traditional approach using a therapy dog.

Through a basic interaction that will hopefully lead to a connection, the medical team wanted to see if keeping a dog around Caleb could stimulate activity and thereby stimulate ‘he.a.ling’, and his father Caleb agreed.

A Golden Retriever named Colonel became Caleb’s source of innovative and non-invasive “me.di.cine”. The dog patiently sat beside Caleb with his trainer Susan. They both waited for Caleb to respond in some small way and it didn’t take long! Especially when Colonel was lying on Caleb’s hospital bed, even swaying with Caleb’s small body to keep him company, Caleb reacted in his sleep.

His heart rate improved, lung function stabilized. Something good was going on, and people assumed it was the sole cause of change in Caleb’s routine: Colonel.

Every day Colonel visits Caleb, the boy lights up. The medical team was amazed. Before long, Caleb was more awake, eager to sit up and interact with the pet dog. Colonel motivated Caleb in an inexplicable way, both physically and emotionally.

Just then Caleb threw a ball to Colonel. And laugh! Sure, it took time and patience—and a whole team of doctors to support—but it was the Colonel who really connected with Caleb on a whole other level, which in itself motivated it. healing process. The story only gets better!

We should never doubt the power of dog love. This is the proof! ❤️
